"Trade Agreements Between Africa and the US and EU: In Whose Interest?"

Dr. Margaret C. Lee, Georgetown University, will discuss the G8, trade and regional integration in Africa. Dr. Lee is a Research Associate with the African Studies Program in the Edmund A Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University (Washington D.C.) She is the author of The Political Economy of Regionalism in Southern Africa (2003), SADC: The Political Economy of Development in Southern Africa (1989), and co-editor of Unfinished Business: The Land Crisis in Southern Africa (2003) and The State and Democracy in Africa (1997, 1998). Professor Lee has received research support from the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation.

Dr. Margaret C. Lee, Georgetown University, will discuss the G8, trade and regional integration in Africa. Margaret C. Lee is a Research Associate with the African Studies Program in the Edmund A Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University  (Washington D.C.)  Dr. Lee has taught at Georgetown University, American University (Washington D.C.), Spelman College (Georgia) and Tennessee Technological University.  She has been a Visiting Scholar at the University of Oslo and a Research Fellow at the Africa Institute of South Africa.  Dr. Lee has been a consultant for the Council on Foreign Relations, the African Center form Strategic Studies, the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. State Department, and USAID.  Professor Lee holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh, and a B.A. in Political Science from Spelman College in Atlanta.  She is the author of The Political Economy of Regionalism in Southern Africa (2003), SADC: The Political Economy of Development in Southern Africa (1989), and co-editor of Unfinished Business: The Land Crisis in Southern Africa (2003) and The State and Democracy in Africa (1997, 1998).  Professor Lee has received research support from the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation.
